Engenius was formed in 1990 by Ann and Laurie
Tennant. Previously, the pair had worked together in starting, growing,
operating and eventually selling-on an engineering enterprise which became
recognised for innovation and "can-do".

Ann
Tennant BA
Ann holds a BA in Social Sciences, which she followed by post-graduate
political research, then work as a field training officer for the UK Government
Social Survey and thereafter commercial market research. Her business
management experience includes Company Secretary and office administration.
Ann is Project Manager for Engenius' "SideWinder" wind turbine
development which was awarded a SMART grant in 2002.
Laurie Tennant BSc
CEng MIET
Laurie has a BSc in Electronics Engineering and Computing, and is a Chartered
Engineer. His background comprises customer-facing roles in many aspects
of the electronics business including microwave, satcomms, satnav, offshore and
marine communications, instrumentation and energy management. He is an
Accredited Practitioner of the PRINCE2 project management method and has
business-level languages coupled with long overseas experience.
His training in photo-voltaics systems includes the Centre for Alternative Technology, and he was
one of the first in the UK to achieve the City & Guilds 2372
qualification for Installation of Grid-connected Photovoltaics. In
addition, Laurie holds authorisation for Inspection, Test and Certification
of Electrical Systems to the IEE Wiring Regulations (C&G 2391) as
well as C&G 2371, 2381 and 17th Edition update 2382. He is an
accredited Electrical Inspector under the National Association of Professional
Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT).
Engenius holds accreditation for
domestic and public-sector Photo-voltaic system design and installation,
including connection to the National Grid and for the Low-Carbon Buildings
Programme and Feed-in Tariffs under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme
(MCS). We are members of the Renewable Energy Association's REAL
Assurance scheme.
Engenius operates on a
"minimum-overheads" basis, bringing in resources as needed from a
network of associated experts and local suppliers. This keeps our costs
down and allows us to offer truly affordable service to domestic customers and
smaller businesses.
Engenius has permanent facilities
for secretarial, financial and administrative functions, as well as electronics
design, prototyping and pilot production facility, with software development
and CAD suites at our premises on the Isle of Wight.
Engenius draws upon successful
histories in market research, marketing and field sales, engineering, project
and general management, training and business administration. We have
excellent facilities and the skills for preparation of reports, presentations,
advertising and PR material, and have knowledge of global markets and
e-business. Sales campaigns, exhibitions and demonstration tours have
been successfully implemented in UK and overseas.
